Meet Heidi, founder of Speechy
I’m Heidi Ellert-McDermott, founder of Speechy and author of The Modern Couple’s Guide to Wedding Speeches. I spent a decade in TV as a BBC director, working with everyone from Sharon Osbourne to David Mitchell, before delivering my own bride speech (and loving it) and writing my groom’s too.
That’s where Speechy began.

Will a speechwriter make my speech sound like me?

How far in advance should I get help with my wedding speech?
The earlier, the better, especially for bespoke speeches and coaching, as our diaries can fill up weeks ahead. Ideally, book at least two months before your wedding to leave plenty of time for editing and rehearsal. Left it late? Get in touch. We can sometimes help with an ‘emergency speech’ even the week before.
For bespoke speeches, you’ll receive your first draft within a week of your research call. Some clients like to have their speech signed off over a year in advance; others keep adding stories as the wedding approaches. Either way, we’re happy to keep it open for edits right up to the day.
Can you help if the wedding is next week?
