Your ‘About Us’ section is a chance to show off your relationship, not your autobiography.

When it comes to writing your wedding website story, short and snappy is the goal. Think of it as the movie trailer to your romcom – funny, heartwarming, and with just enough of a tease to keep guests excited for the big day.

Your Wedding Website – It’s a Trailer, Not a Memoir

Save the deep dives and the Oscar-worthy monologues for your speech – your wedding website should be breezy and fun. Aim for 200 words or fewer. That’s enough to give long-lost relatives a sense of who you are as a couple, without boring anyone who’s just here for the wine list.

Use conversational, relatable language. If you wouldn’t say it out loud at a bar or on a walk, don’t write it here.

Quirks are gold. Rather than ‘we both love the same movies,’ try ‘we both cry at Pixar films and quote Die Hard like it’s Shakespeare.’

📝 First or Third Person?

Decide on your voice before you start.

Third person can work well if you keep it cheeky. Example:

“When Janina first met David, she couldn’t help noticing his gorgeous brown eyes, his kind-hearted nature… and his child-like obsession with Star Wars.”

OR

“Emily says she knew Tom was the one when he made her tea without asking how she took it. Tom says he knew it when she didn’t judge his Spice Girls playlist.”

First person makes it feel more intimate. You can alternate lines or write separate mini-paragraphs for each person. Example:

“When we met, Tom tried to impress me by claiming to know every line from The Princess Bride. Turns out he only knew about three, but he made me laugh anyway. I knew then that he was different. He says he knew I was ‘the one’ the moment I pretended not to notice him knocking over his wine on our first date.”

“I knew she was special when she laughed at my terrible Princess Bride impressions and didn’t flinch when I knocked over a glass of red all over the table. I figured if she could handle that, she could probably handle me.”

Avoid the mush. Leave the big, sweeping romantic gestures for the vows. The best bios show your personalities and make your guests laugh.

💡 What to Include in Your Wedding Website

There are no strict rules, but here are some ideas that help tell your story in a compelling way.

🥂 The Meet Cute

Where did it all begin?

“We met when we were young, drunk, and obsessed with Vampire Weekend. Now we drink oat milk lattes and listen to Radio 4.”

🤹 Personality Combo

Play up your opposites-attract energy.

“Tom’s a gym bunny, cocktail connoisseur and Instagram king. Austin’s a bookworm who could give a TED Talk on WW1 trivia. Together, they work.”

💍 The Proposal

Only include this if it was sweetly chaotic or unusual.

“Jaya proposed to Zane after dessert. She cried before the starters and didn’t pop the question till after pudding. The waiter asked if everything was okay twice.”

🚀 Future Plans

Feel free to keep it funny.

“Grace dreams of vegan stews and meditative mornings. Anthony dreams of Grace never changing, especially the part where she always brings snacks.”

🧀 First Date Shenanigans

Good if it wasn’t Pinterest-perfect.

“She nearly lost a shoe in the sticky carpet of The Bedford Arms. He saved the day by doing the lawnmower dance. They’ve been inseparable ever since.”

The Adorable Nerds

“Scott and Sophie’s eyes met over a sticky Wetherspoons bar during Manchester Uni Fresher’s Week. She was arguing about student discount on crisps. He just wanted a pint. After bonding over Star Trek and a Tesco Finest meal deal, Scott proposed at Durdle Door. Sophie said yes. Resistance was futile.”

The Animal Lovers

“Toby and Nick bonded over dogs and Taylor Swift on Tinder. First date: spaghetti, giggles, and Fearless on vinyl. Proposal: tears (his), denial (his), acceptance (also his). One very pampered dog later, they’re ready to tie the knot.”

The Long-Distance Lovers

“Alex was living in Bristol. Jamie was in Barcelona. After three years, countless airport reunions, and far too many WhatsApp voice notes, they’re finally saying goodbye to Ryanair queues and hello to married life — under one roof, with one very spoiled cat.”

The Pub Quiz Power Couple

“They met at a Tuesday night pub quiz when Alex corrected Jess on the capital of Kazakhstan (it’s Astana, by the way). Since then, they’ve been a winning team at trivia, takeaway orders, and karaoke duets. Marriage was the next logical round.”

The Anti-Rom-Coms

“Hannah and Luke didn’t believe in ‘love at first sight’ — or dating apps. But somehow a blind date, an argument about marmite, and a broken umbrella led to four years, two houseplants (one surviving), and a proposal in front of a very confused alpaca.”

''I had an unbelievable experience working with Speechy. From the moment I got in touch with them I felt supported and come the day of my best mans speech, it went down a storm with a standing ovation.''
''Speechy deserves more than 5 stars. (They) produced a factual, funny Mother of the Bride speech with just the right amount of emotion..... it was ingenious. Thank you so much for the wonderful & priceless memory of having delivered my speech at my daughter’s wedding and nailed it ... and got a standing ovation too. My children were very proud of me, including my new son-in-law! ''
''These Guys are tremendous! One main point is that its not their speech - its yours! This is because it is based totally around what you would like to say, but its the spin that Speechy puts on it, that is the magical bit... Ordinary words become a hilariously entertaining event. There were giggles, applauds, laughs, tears, cheers and standing ovation – all in that order!''
''Feeling anxious or stressed about an upcoming speech? Look no further than Speechy... I just delivered my Best Man speech this past weekend and absolutely crushed it. I was nervous leading up to the moment, but while delivering my speech, I didn't want the experience to end, the room was hooked, and laughing at every joke. Worth every penny... Thank you!''
''Navigating through the wedding industry often feels like you’re stuck on a conveyer belt....Speechy is the complete opposite. They treat you and your wedding like you’re the one and only. I couldn’t recommend them more.''
''Heidi and the whole team at Speechy are an absolute gem! In addition to their talent and extensive experience in speech writing, Heidi had an impressive way of listening to me talk about mine and my partners personal anecdotes, before putting it in such a funny and beautiful way that it felt as though she’d known us for years.''
